Mary Ann Andreas hopes to be the first tribal member elected to the California Assembly but she doesn't want to be pigeonholed as the "Indian candidate."
"My concerns are the same as every other citizen in the state," Andreas tells The Fresno Bee.
Andreas was former chairwoman of her tribe, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. She says the economy and job creation are her top priorities.
