Three Connecticut towns opposed to the federal recognition of the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation are trying to join another tribe's case.

The towns say they should be designated as an "interested party" in the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation's case if the Eastern Pequots are allowed to do so.

The Eastern Pequots want to participate in the Schaghticoke case because state attorney general Richard Blumenthal has made claims about them in his appeal of the Schaghticoke's federal status.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has issued final decisions in favor of the Eastern Pequot and Schaghticoke tribes but the state is opposed.
