Alaska Native tribes and non-profit organizations are sharing in $5.3 million in grants from the Rasmuson Foundation.
Cook Inlet Tribal Council of Alaska will use a $2 million grant to help build a new services center for Alaska Natives in Anchorage. The center will provide a permanent home for Koahnic Broadcast Corporation / KNBA-FM, the Alaska Native Justice Center and other entities.
he Native Village of Shishmaref received more than $228,000 to complete construction of a new tannery. The new 6,000-square-foot facility will allow for upgraded equipment or increased production.
The Native Village of Minto received $210,000 for a new community health clinic. The facility will double the size of the existing one to accommodate 1,200 patient visits per year.
The Seldovia Village Tribe received $400,000 for construction of and equipment for a new community health center.
