The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is among the major donors to the Republican National Convention, according to The New York Times.
The paper said the New York City Host Committee for the convention has raised millions. But the committee has not disclosed how much has been raised nor the individual amounts by each donor, including the tribe.
John Guevremont, a tribal member who serves as chief operating officer for the tribe, attended the 2000 Republican convention as a delegate. He helped to draft the Indian platform, which made reference to mismanagement of Indian trust assets and included Native Hawaiians.
The GOP convention takes places in New York City from August 29 to September 4.
