Film to expose dangers of meth on Navajo Nation

The Indian Health Service is sponsoring a film to expose the dangers of methamphetamine use on the Navajo Nation.

Two Navajo filmmakers are producing the documentary, which includes interviews with users, addicts, former users, law enforcement, tribal leaders and others affected by the problem. Navajo Nation Vice President Frank Dayish Jr. was interviewed last week.

Methamphetamine use and trafficking is a growing problem in Indian Country, tribal leaders say. Possession is a federal crime but some, like the Navajo Nation, have not added it to their codes because the drug is relatively new.
