Tribes nationwide expanding entertainment options

Patrons to tribal casinos are used to seeing acts that were popular in the 60s, 70s and 80s. But some tribes are now bringing in higher-caliber artists.

The Muckleshoot Tribe's $30 million White River Amphitheatre opened last summer and hosted some big-name concerts. This year will be much the same thanks to partner Clear Channel Entertainment, a large entertainment management company.

The Upper Skagit Tribe has also gotten in the game with its outdoor concert facility. The general manager says the summer concerts bring more people to the casino next door.

The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians is going in a different direction by becoming a booker for tribal casinos. Viejas Entertainment's clients include tribes in Wisconsin, New Mexico and Oregon.
