Sioux woman receives France's highest military honor

Marcella LeBeau, a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, was awarded France's highest military award for her service in World War II.

LeBeau was 24 when she volunteered to serve as a nurse in the war. She treated some of the first casualties at the Battle of the Bulge and on D-Day.

LeBeau, now 84, went to France to receive the French Legion of Honor at a ceremony on the 60th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. She was only one of 100 veterans to receive the award.
