The Cherokee Nation council voted 15-0 to ban same-sex marriage, The Daily Oklahoman reports.
The issue came up after the tribe awarded a marriage license to a lesbian couple. The license has since been put on hold.
The ban on same-sex marriage came at a council meeting last night. The agenda was reportedly changed at the last minute to take the vote.
