A manmade lake in Colorado would be renamed "Lake Nighthorse" after retiring Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R) under a new bill.
The legislation was introduced by Sen. Pete Domenici (R-New Mexico.). It would rename Ridges Basin Reservoir, which was created by the Animas-La Plata dam project, for the only American Indian who served in the Senate.
Campbell was a big supporter of the costly and controversial A-LP project, which settles the water rights of Ute tribes in Colorado.
