Imprisoned American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier has agreed to dismiss his libel lawsuit against Paul DeMain, publisher of News From Indian Country.
Peltier accused DeMain of publishing false statements about the murder of AIM activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash. DeMain had written that Aquash may have been killed because she knew of Peltier's involvement in the murders of two FBI agents.
Peltier has since withdrawn the suit. DeMain did not retract any of his statements but sent a letter to the court saying Peltier did not receive a fair trial for the FBI murders and that Peltier didn't have anything to do with Aquash's murder.
