The Coeur dAlene Tribe of Idaho last week launched a wireless project to bring high-speed Internet access to the reservation.
The Turbocharged Broadband Geek Project will serve as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) for anyone living on and near the reservation. The goal is to provide high-speed access at an affordable price. The project will also provide a center where those without computers can access the Internet.
The project is made possible through a $2.8 million dollar grant from the Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service and a 15 percent in-kind match from the tribe.
