The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is being asked to swap land with the town of Pembroke.
The town wants to exchange 8 acres for the tribe's 12 acres. The town wants the land for a sports complex.
The land in question was part of a tribal purchase that was questioned by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. HUD officials said the tribe more than the appraised value for the land.
