Gerard A. Baker, a member of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota, has been named superintendent of Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota.
Baker has been serving as superintendent of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail and the traveling exhibit meant to commemorate the exploration.
He will start his new job on June 1, according to The Rapid City Journal.
