The Muskeg Lake Cree Nation of Saskatchewan plans to build a private, for-profit MRI clinic despite opposition from provincial leaders.
Saskatchewan law forbids privatized health care. But the tribe says it is exempt as a sovereign nation. The debate could end up being decided by Canada's Supreme Court.
The proposed clinic would alleviate long waiting lists for MRI scans. Saskatchewan has the longest wait list in the country.
