South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds (R) closed his Indian education summit on Tuesday with a renewed call for reconciliation.
Rounds said his administration is working to build peaceful relationships with Indians and tribal governments. He said the state should celebrate diversity and unity.
Rounds organized the two-day summit between tribal leaders, educators and state officials.
He has created a new Office of Indian Education and an Indian Education Advisory Council.
