Washington tribe helping with removal of remains

The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and archeological workers are removing remains and artifacts from a work site in Washington.

The state is spending $4.5 million to rebury tribal ancestors. Of the amount, $3 million will be used to buy land to rebury the remains and to construct a building to house the artifacts.

The discover of the burial ground halted construction at the Hood Canal Bridge. Work will resume once the remains and artifacts are removed.
