The state of Iowa honored eight members of the Meskwaki Tribe who served as Code Talkers during World War II.
Iowa lawmakers passed a resolution recognizing the Meskwaki Code Talkers and their descendants.
A ceremony was held at the Iowa Senate for the families.
Robin Roberts, whose uncle Dewey Roberts was one of the eight Meskwaki Code Talkers, is working with Sens. Charles Grassley (R) and Tom Harkin (D) to award Congressional medals to all Native Americans who served as Code Talkers. Gold and silver medals were already presented to the Navajo Code Talkers.
