Indian church refuses entry to Black-Indian couple

A pastor at the Rappahannock Indian Baptist Church in Virginia has resigned after church leaders refused to allow an Indian woman and her African-American husband to join.

The couple showed up at services but were told to leave. According to Lori Battle, a Rappahannock tribal member, two deacons criticized her for marrying "outside my race."

Rev. Clayton Custalow had welcomed Lori and her husband, Jasper, to the church. But after he found out what happened he quit. He told the congregation this past Sunday that he opposes racism.
