Tribal police chief builds force from ground up

When Paul Hare went to work for the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians of California, he found lax security at the tribe's bingo hall and criminals who used the reservation to hide.

Now Hare is in charge of a 22-member police force. He beefed up security at the hall, which is now a full-fledged, financially successful casino, and he continues to focus on ways to make the reservation safer. He's negotiating with the state to ensure the state shares its records with the police forces for 14 California tribes.
