The Lac La Ronge First Nation of Saskatchewan will receive a $4.25 million refund for gasoline and tobacco taxes paid by tribal members.
The province was imposing the taxes on the sale of goods to tribal members. The refund was the result of an out-of-court settlement. According to the CBC, 15 out of 44 similar lawsuits have been settled with First Nations.
