Amphitheater would be built near sacred rock

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is raising concerns about an amphitheater that would be built near a sacred rock in Minnesota.

The rock, Inyan cekiya, is known as the Sand Creek prayer stone. Dakota people use the boulder to perform ceremonies and make offerings.

The rock is located within the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge manager said an environmental impact statement for the proposed 19,500-seat outdoor amphitheater does not address the impact on the stone.
