The chairman of the Chugach Alaska Corp., an Alaska Native regional corporation, was removed by a vote on Wednesday.
The vote to oust Sheri Buretta was unexpected, according to The Anchorage Daily News. Buretta, who has served as chair since 1998, said she was shocked.
Under Burette, Chugach saw its revenues and profits double last year. The corporation has become a major defense contractor for the federal government.
