New England tribal culture inspired Melissa Tantaquidgeon Zobel, the Mohegan Tribe's historian, to write a book.
Oracles is a fictional account of a young medicine woman who is a member of the invented Yantuck Tribe. Tantaquidgeon Zobel incorporated elements of various New England tribes and people to bring the story to life. The book takes on Indian gaming and commercialization of spirituality.
Tantaquidgeon Zobel has served as Mohegan historian since 1991.
