The Bush administration has added fewer sites to the national Superfund priority list than the previous administration, The New York Times reports.
The Environmental Protection Agency on Monday proposed adding 11 toxic waste sites to the program. In 2003, the EPA sought to add 14 sites and in 2002, just 9 sites.
EPA officials say budget concerns force a greater focus on a limited number of sites. They also say not every site deserves priority.
The list released Monday includes a site in Grants, New Mexico, located near two Pueblos.
