Two tribes in Washington have filed a lawsuit to protect them from state taxation.
The Swinomish and Squaxin tribes were negotiating with the state for a gasoline tax compact. They want to charge their own 7-cents per gallon tax as opposed to the state's 28 cents.
The state is opposing the request and says it could lose
anywhere from $100 and $200 million if other tribes impose their own taxes.
