Havasupai tribal members sue over use of blood

Members of the Havasupai Tribe of Arizona filed a $25 million lawsuit over the authorized use of their blood samples.

Tribal members gave more than 400 samples to diabetes researchers at Arizona State University. They claim the samples were used for studies on inbreeding, schizophrenia and migration into the Americas.

The lawsuit was filed against ASU, the Arizona Board of Regents and three ASU professors. It claims the school violated the tribal members' rights and federal privacy law.
