Charly Lowry, a member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, has advanced to the next round in the American Idol competition.
Lowry, 20, plans to sing an Aretha Franklin song tonight, according to USA Today. Her strategy to winning over tough judges like Simon Crowell? "Just be Charly, just be Charly."
Lowry mentioned she was a member of the tribe in her first appearance on the show.
