A group of Republican Indians have formed the Native American Coalition to Re-elect Bush.
According to The Helena Independent Record, the group is a month old. The chairman is David Barnett, a council member for the Cowlitz Tribe in Washington.
Barnett told the paper that President Bush has funded or increased funding for Indian programs. He cited self-determination contract funds at the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He also said the Bush administration elevated the Office of Indian Education within the Department of Education.
