A 20-year-old Lumbee student from North Carolina has advanced to the next round of the "American Idol" show.
Charly Lowry sang "Proud Mary" in Monday's broadcast of the show. She is one of 117 contestants who were picked out of more than 70,000 people.
On the show, Lowry drew positive comments from judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, a record producer. Simon Cowell, a record company executive, said she was "very good" but didn't like her presentation.
On the show, Lowry told the judges she was a member of the Lumbee Tribe.
