The following notices of interest were published in the Federal Register today.
Land-Into-Trust Proposal, California
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is holding an additional public meeting to take comments on a proposed land acquisition for gaming purposes in California.
The Ione Band of Miwok Indians has asked the BIA to take about 208 acres of land into trust for a casino, parking, hotel and other facilities supporting the casino.
The BIA is taking comments in anticipation of an environmental impact statement. The EIS will say whether or not the BIA will take the land into trust.
The meeting will be held February 4. Written comments are due by February 20, 2004.

BIA/IHS Information Collection
The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Indian Health Service are accepting comments about information collected under the Indian Self-Determination and
Education Assistance Act.
The BIA and IHS collect information about contracts, grants or cooperative
agreements awarded under the Act. They work under one set of rules in order to make it easier for tribes to apply for assistance.
Comments are due by February 19, 2004.
