The Navajo Nation's Division of Social Services is under investigation by the FBI and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, The Farmington Daily Times reports.
The FBI is looking into alleged misuse of federal funds. The nature of the HHS investigation was not reported.
The situation is preventing a day care center in Shiprock, New Mexico, from receiving federal funds to provide free lunches and snacks to kids. Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. said the problem is being cleared up.
