Navajo tribal members were critical of a proposed water settlement between the Navajo Nation, the state of New Mexico and the federal government, The Farmington Daily Times reported.
At a meeting on Monday, tribal members demanded more time to comment on the deal. A leader with the Din Bitzill grassroots organization said a lawsuit is possible to seek more community input.
The tribe and the state announced the settlement on December 15 and want comments by January 15. Non-Indian water users say they need more time to review the 120-page document.
