The University of New Mexico's board of regents approved a new bachelor's degree program in Native American studies on Tuesday.
UNM already has a minor in Native studies but students and professors asked for a new degree program. A master's degree is on the horizon as well.
The new program is expected to attract more than 100 students by 2006. UNM has about 3,000 Native American students.
