Former assistant secretary Neal McCaleb spoke at the fall commencement of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Friday.
McCaleb, a former state transportation secretary, said leadership is a "responsibility." He told graduates that trust, love and respect are the qualities of success but that "Your idea of success is a question only you can answer."
McCaleb was head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs from July 2001 to December 2002. He stepped down after being held in contempt for his handling of the trust fund. The ruling was later lifted.
