Commissioners in Fremont County, Wyoming, have refused to endorse a charter school on the Wind River Reservation.
The Four Winds Charter School wants to provide an alternative learning environment for Native high school students. So the principal asked the county to support a $300,000 Community Development Block Grant grant from the state.
But commissioners questioned why the reservation needs a new school when other problems exists. They also said te vocational and cultural focus wouldn't help Native students.
