Third Ute man sentenced in difficult murder case


A third member of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe of Colorado was sentenced for the 1998 murder of a fellow tribal member.

Nathaniel "Bubbs" Taylor, 23, was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for the murder of Richard Bearshead. Authorities said it was a difficult case to solve. The Durango Herald said no motive was ever made public.

Also sentenced as part of the case were Toby Wayne Cuthair, 28, who received eight years and Darrell G. Ketchum, 26, who received 11 years and four months.

Bearshead, 25, was killed outside his home. He had been hit with blunt object and stabbed several times.
