The Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota will be hooked up to the rural Mni Wiconi water project next year if Congress provides enough money, an Oglala Sioux Tribe official said.
The project is designed to serve 55,000 people in nine counties, Pine Ridge, the Lower Brule Sioux Reservation and the Rosebud Sioux Reservation. It is about 60 percent complete.
Still not hooked up is Pine Ridge. Congress still has to approve at least $18 million this year to keep the project rolling.
