A Navajo man whose estranged wife was convicted of murdering three of their children was shot to death by police in New Mexico.
Tommy Charley, 44, was involved in a car accident in Eddy County and apparently left the scene. When he was later confronted by three sheriff's deputies, he allegedly brandished a knife. The deputies shot and killed him.
Tommy Charley was married to Elvira Charley, who was convicted in January 2003 of murdering three of her children at the family's home in Arizona. She was given three life sentences in a case that drew nationwide attention.
