The Port Gamble SKlallam Tribe of Washington will expand the size of its reservation by nearly a third with the purchase of $4.4 million in land at a state auction.
The 390 acres will be added to the tribe's 1,300-acre reservation. The new land will be used for a housing project.
Neighbors don't want the land placed in trust because local zoning regulations limit the number of houses.
