Oregon exhibit honors Indian WWII veterans

An exhibit at the Oregon State Capitol Galleria pays tribute to the Indian veterans who served in World War II.

The exhibit features portraits and stories of WWII vets from all parts of the country. Photographer Jeff Mitchell worked with the Northwest Indian Veterans Association to record the memories of the aging warriors.

Some of the veterans featured are Rose Blue Thunder, a Sicangu Lakota from South Dakota, Tommy Heavy Runner, Blackfeet from Montana, and Clarence Wolf Guts, an Oglala Lakota Code Talker.
