A government audit into the Mtis Addictions Council of Saskatchewan has found nearly $600,000 in improper spending.
The report says the Department of Health allowed the drug treatment program to spend government funds with little to no oversight. About 7 percent of the money was spend on travel, meals and questionable expenses, the audit says.
The program's board was forced to resign earlier this year in response to complaints about the handling of funds. A criminal probe has been launched.
