Activist and actor Russell Means is endorsing independent candidate Ralph Nader for president, saying Democrat Sen. John Kerry and Republican President George W. Bush are essentially the same.

"I do not believe in voting for evil," Means was quoted as saying. "If the American people have principles, then they will vote for a third party."

Means, however, is not supporting a third party in the U.S. Senate race. He has endorsed Republican John Thune against Sen. Tom Daschle, a Democrat who is backed by all nine South Dakota tribes.
