The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut has joined the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in creating its own workers compensation system for employees.
The tribe acted after state attorney general Richard Blumenthal ruled that tribes cannot legally participate in the state's system. The Mohegans previously had an exception carved out.
The Mohegan's new system will handle claims by injured workers. The Mashantuckets say their program has been a success.
