The Indian Health Service came under fire on Wednesday for its handling of a hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Tribal members who live in the area criticized budget shortfalls and other problems at the Sioux San Hospital. The facility serves an estimated 13,000 Indians in the city.
IHS recently fired the hospital administrator in hopes of cleaning things up. Officials said they are making changes that will improve services.
The hospital's annual budget is $4 million a year.
