Members of the Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Tribe of Minnesota have continued their occupation of a burial ground slated for development.
The remains of at least one person have been discovered at the site. The tribe objects to the removal of the bones the state's Minnesota Indian Affairs Council has already made plans to rebury them at another location.
The council consulted other tribes in the state about the reburial. The Mendota Mdewakantons lack federal recognition.
The site near the Mall of America is part of a planned $100 million retail and real estate development.
