Healing ceremony at Utah massacre site begins

A healing ceremony at the site of a massacre blamed on Indians began in Utah on Tuesday.

More than 120 settlers were killed in the Mountain Meadows Massacre in a siege that ended on September 11, 1875. Mormon pioneers are believed to have instigated the attack.

A group of people claming Cherokee descent arranged the ceremony, which will end on September 11. The Mountain Meadows Association, descendants of massacre survivors, opposes the ceremony.
