Organizers of the Get Out The Native Vote campaign say they hope to turn out 33,000 Native voters in Minnesota.
Judy Hanks, of the Mille Lacs Band, is the statewide coordinator for the effort. She points out that Minnesota is considered a "battleground" state in the presidential election.
The campaign has set up voter registration booths at tribal and other events. The group won't make candidate endorsements but will try to educate Native voters.
The National Congress of American Indians hopes to turn out 1 million voters in November.
