Rival factions of the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe of California are battling it out over a proposed casino.
One group, led by Dan Shoshone, was challenging chairwoman Shirley Summers. But the Interior Board of Indian Appeals upheld Summers' election. A new one is scheduled November 9.
Shoshone and three other council members have since been stripped of their powers after Summers and others learned they were accepting money from a casino development company. Shoshone and the others were working with Nevada Gold..
The tribe had agreed to work with Rinaldo Corporation for a casino. Summers said the contract will be renegotiated.
