A bankrupt company mining has suspended operations at a site held sacred by Picuris Pueblo of New Mexico.
The tribe has been fighting the mica mine for decades. Tribal members use the site to gather mica for pottery and to collect medicinal plants.
Oglebay Norton, the mining company, plans to sell the site. The tribe claims ownership.
