Crow chairman promotes record ahead of election


The chairman of the Crow Tribe of Montana is touting his record on housing and economic development in hopes of getting re-elected.

Chairman Carl Venne cited $1 million in Housing and Urban Development funding, down payments for potential homebuyers, oil and gas exploration projects and a new housing authority as some of his successes. "The dream, like all Americans', is to own your own home and have a good job," Venne told The Billings Gazette.

The tribe will a primary October 9 to narrow down a field of 19 candidates seeking the chairman, vice chairman, secretary and vice secretary positions. The general election is November 6.
